I built a small indoor terrarium box for some tropical plants and it was stained yesterday. How soon can I place plants into the box without the stain harming them, or will it do so at all?

The house is in the mountains in which the porch was rmoved to install a new one. When the construction team removed the porch, I noticed a terrible odor eminating from the dirt. It smells like dead animals or something. I have searched the ground but see no signs of animal bones or anything. I dont want the porch put up until the smell can be taken care of. Can someone give me some idea of what can be causing this problem, and how can I get rid of it.

I know ash makes plants thrive, but is it okay to put cigarette ash in the soil? Does the ash still contain nicotine, and, if so, is that bad for the plant?

I want to mow the field at my home, but it is almost as tall as I am. I have a ride on lawn mower but I still have to cut it all down enough to allow the mower to navigate. I've tried a weed eater but it isnt strong enough to cut down the brush. I know that there are machine's that I can rent that will do what I want but I dont know what they are, or how to use them.

I have 3 bay windows (from ground on up) that I would like to add a few trees in front of to provide a decorative look, and maybe even some shade. I really love Palm trees, but I keep reading that rats are attracted to them. Not sure if this is true, but if this is the case, I definitely dont want them! I am looking for something that requires low-to-middle maintenance and that are not that expensive.
