I planted a hydrangea plant with blooms in my garden. It has been a very hot summer and I planted the hydrangea in a location that gets sun all day. Sometimes the leaves wither, but the plant bounces back and has grown bushy. I apply Miracle Gro every two weeks. But after the initial blooms faded, the plant just refused to bloom. I planted a peony plant in a similar location and that plant did not produce any flowers either. We have pine trees in our garden but a little further away from these plants. Does anybody here have any answer to what I should do to get the plant to produce flowers?

We are in NW Indiana Zone 5 and we have 2 Canna plants and 2 Elephant ear plants grown from the big bulbs you buy at walmart. What would happen if I left these outside over the winter? Would they survive if I covered them with straw. What should I do with them for the winter? I was thinking of just sinking them in our pond over winter.

I have petunia lobelia and surfinia in my pots and hanging baskets but they are pretty tall in the pots and looking rather the worst for wear with all the wind and rain, are there any plants that can put in now that are on the smaller side.

I've got 1.5 weeks before the next fire-inspection. You can play with: the chainsaw, the weed whacker, or the chipper/shredder. There's about 3 acres of oak/manzanita that needs clearing. I'll pay you in beer. Whadda' you say?

I have good beer, you know.

Some of the tomatoes in my garden have black spots that cover the bottom of them. It looks like something has been eating them. Could this damage be caused by crickets? There are a lot of them in the garden. If so, how can I get rid of them in a non-chemical way? Also, the 'black hole' only occurs on the tomato plants that are not in cages (we have around 20 tomato plants and only 10 cages), thus, the vines are on the ground.
I live in Michigan, if that helps. Thanks for any and all advice!

We have a tiny back yard 4.5 metres x 5 metres, currently covered in concrete. I've been told to go for height in a small garden. We can dig up some of the concrete, but I'd prefer to have plants in pots and decking. Does anyone have suggestions for plants that make a big impact that won't die on me?

The back of the house faces East and the garden gets good light most of the day.

some of my tomatos are growing quite normally, good colour & taste fine. Have a couple of plants that are growing with dark green veiny patches, starting at the top. Bottom of the fruit are a normal green. Even some that have already turned red, have still got visable dark green lines. I am feeding once a week , could I be doing anything wrong

It's the middle of summer (2 more months of 90+ degrees) and I want to prune my crape myrtle for next yr. I've read opposing "tips" on how to and when. What worked best for you?

I'm no pro at lawn care, but I've never understood this: if you live in a warm, dry area, and there hasn't been rain for awhile, will watering the lawn mid-day BURN the lawn? I've been brought up believing this, whether true or false, yet some of my south Texas neighbors are out from time to time watering their lawns mid day.
Is there any grounds to the idea that a midday watering will burn the grass?

Thanks.

What sprays should you use to keep bugs away? How far apart should they be planted? I'm thinking of apple, pear, and peach trees.
