If the plant is already mushy, it may be a goner. Try draining excess water and see if that helps. If it doesn't improve, purchase a new one and be sure it has good drainage. your drainage hole(s) in the bottom of the pot may be stopped up. Supporting the plant, look under the pot at the hole and make sure a rock, piece of bark, or something else is not stopping up the hole. If you see something, try pushing aside with your finger.
When harvesting the leaves, always harvest from the bottom up. The lower leaves are more potent with the "good stuff" you use them for.

I would drain the pot as much as I could but you stated that the base is really mushy. You might have to buy or restart a new aloe vera. I had over water mine once and I set it out in the sun also make sure that your drain hole is not clog up under the base of the planter. You could put paper towels and try to take some of the water out by soaking the paper towels...Give this a try before getting a new aloe vera...LOL

take a paper towel and press it down over it for the night, if its still too mushy then you have to add more potting soil.

Repot the plant in a bigger pot and add soil around it. This will help the water spread to the new soil.

re-pot it in dry, sandy soil, and put it in the sun. It may be too late if its getting mushy
