if it is water it would weigh

1685.55 pounds

since soils vary it would be harder to give you an exact weight

It depends on what material you are talking about. A cubic yard of sand will be different than a cubic yard of mulch, which will be different than a cubic yard of stone dust. Yards is volume, lbs (pounds) is weight, which depends on the density of the material. Think feathers and bowling balls!
