A twelve-guage shotgun with #2 shot is highly recommended. However, if that doesn't work, there are pressure-sensitive land mines available at your nearest military base.

Hint: If neither the shotgun nor the land mines deter the animals, find out who owns the beasts, get some C-4 putty, and place a thin line of the substance around the owner's house. But, be aware that this will leave a significant divot in your neighborhood.

Garden centers sell Repel that works for cats and dogs as well as a variety for deer. You shake it around the edge of the area you don't want them in using a very fine line. It lasts up to 3 or 4 weeks unless it rains. If it rains, you need to reapply when it dries out. I've used it successfully for years.
