We have 5 blue spruce that are planted too close together, but are now too large to move. Can the sides be trimmed back like they do Christmas trees and when is the best time to do it. Also there are tons of birds living in them, will all that bird poop hurt the trees?

We have several varieties of Rhubarb planted, some two years old, some new this year. All the leaves turned brown and died back. This did not happy so early last year. It has been hotter than usuall. Is this normal, or is there a terrible rhubarb killer. I would like to know if I should plant more next spring.

I've been housesitting for my parents, taking care of their house and their pets as well as my own house and pets.
My house is small, with a small yard, so I don't normally bother with watering my lawn (I figure, the dead-er it is, the less it needs to be cut). Their yard and front lawn is big.
San Antonio had been under water restrictions, so the folks in my parents' neighborhood could only water their lawns on Fridays, I think. My parents have one of those underground sprinkler systems (and I'm not entirely sure how to turn it on).

So, I've been busy getting ready to start teaching again, and I FORGOT to water the lawn AT ALL!!! SO, today, I noticed the lawn is a bit brown and crunchy.... My question:
Is it too late? Have I killed it? If I water it this coming Friday, and let get really, really, REALLY soaked, is there any possibility of reviving it????
Please, some gardening expert, give me some good advice to save the lawn.
Or else, just give me the bad news gently.

We have several Rose of Sharon bushes that have taken over other shubs in our yard. The "seedings" are everywhere! What is the best way to eliminate these beautfiul, but uncontrollable flowers from our yard? We have tried digging them up but they keep coming back the following Spring. (sigh) Thanks for your help.

They're bright red, about one centimeter long and look like a cross between a spider and an ant. I've searched the web and I can't find anything about them. They appeared very suddenly; I didn't see any sign of them the morning I weeded my garden, but that evening there was maybe a dozen crawling over this one pepper.

I have already posted a question about getting rid of this, and have received a lot of good answers. I still can not figure out if I have a Wasp, hornet, or bee colony on my hand.

Everybody talks about the colony as if it is hanging from somewhere. This one is actualy on th FLOOR in my shed.

Does it make any difference.
