Thx jay and autumn for quick answer but this flower does not look like a bird-of-paradise.

Cannot believe there are so many helpful people in this world. Confirmed that it is Red Ginger.
Btw, I'm from southern Indian city Bangalore.

I believe it is "Red Ginger", (scientific name-Alpinia Pururata). The leaves that I see in your picture have the same type of leaf as Red Ginger as well, or at least, very similar.

Yes, I agree that is it a ginger, in the Zingiberaceae. You can tell by the flower and the foliage. Plus I am sure that it has the tuberous root that a ginger has as well. I used to take care of several species of ginger in greenhouses. We had a lot of white and orange flowered gingers. Very pretty!

It is definitely a type of Ginger. But the "Torch" gingers have a different shape. I tried an extensive web search but had little luck. Okay I finally found it in my TROPICA book. It's Alpinia purpurata. "Red Ginger' in the Zingiberaceae family. :-)))

It is Red Ginger and by the way I really like your photographs and I really enjoyed my visit to your country. I was there for 2 months. It is so different and unusual. It's like another planet.
Keep taking pictures, you have a gift.

I know quite a bit about flowers, but I don't recognize this one. It seems to me to be a tropical big leaf plant that has flowered. Have you gone online and checked the flower seed order places such as park seed?
