You surely can.
Just bear in mind that the new cane break is going to be different than the one you're trying to replace.
Keep your cane under control!

There is bamboo and there is cane...two different animals. Bamboo takes lots of water, cane is a nasty, nasty weed that grows anywhere, water or not.
