Instead of sprinklers, try using a soaker hose(and really let it soak in) watering just the top of the soil with a sprinkler can cause the roots of the grass to grow up instead of down. You need to water as deep as possible to establish a good root system, and soaker hoses really don't use as much water as sprinklers. You have to move it alot or you will have green strips where the grass has come back to life. This happened in my yard - you could see exactly where the soaker hose had been. But I didn't have to do it again for weeks once my grass had all come back.
They are actually made to be used in flower beds, but my grass was dead - and - NOW it's not.
Make sure to follow instructions that comes with your soaker hose - you just barely turn the water on.

Call Lawnscape or Chemlawn. Very often your gardeners are doing all sorts of other yards and they bring diseases on their lawnmowers that could affect your yard. You need professional advice and help. Those companies will come out every month or 6 weeks and do all the things that your yard needs at various times of the year for about $35 per month. It is worth it. You will always have the most beautiful lawn in the neighborhood. If you are on a tight budget and have the time to fertilize and maintain yourself Scotts has a maintenance plan for each of the climate zones where you put the chemicals and fertilizers necessary to have a healthy lawn. Taking care of your lawn is not just about watering and mowing. Lawns need attention for weeds, disease and healthy growth.

It is because of the heat and lack of water we have been getting. If it is round spots of Brown on fecue grass it is called Brown patch. There are remidies you can try at your local garden center. Is your grass Fescue? What area of the usa do you live in?

the best time to water your yard is at 9 or 10 in the morning, and around 4 or 5 in the evening.
the dusk watering is drawing the roots.

Bugs & bugs & bugs would be the #1 culprit of choice, although there are other choices, of course. Grubs are a prime candidate. Check the link below for a selection of bugs to choose from; grubs are on the bottom, I think. Fungus and water are other places to look, but your gardener is probably not the problem. Good luck!
