I live in upstate NY and have some glad and dahlia (bulbs/corms). Is it too late to plant these for this year? How long does it take for them to flower? The first frost up here is around 9/20 so I have about 8-9 weeks.

Bag-a Bug traps only a few of them, but not enough. Pesticides only work for less than a day, and Listerine mixed with water does not work at all! Help!

I have a 17 year old ficus tree that my mother in law just gave me. It is about 2 foot tall. I would like it to grow taller, any suggestions on how I do this? I thought about re potting it, but I just moved it last week from it's old house to here, and I have heard that ficus are drama queens about where they are located, so I thought that maybe I should wait. Thanks!

I don't want any harsh chemicals- I'm trying to use common household items, like ground red pepper to keep catapillars away. Something keeps eating the leaves off most my plants, and it's driving me nuts!!! How do I repel those bastards!

I have a set of 3" decorative ceramic pots that I would like to display in my garden window. Up until now I have been using them for starters but I would really like to display them. What would be a good small flowering plant I could put in them that would not necessarily need to be transplanted soon. I would like something that could live happily in a 3" pot for a long time.
I would prefer a flowering plant but if you think of something that is pretty or interesting that does not slower, I am open to suggestions

My blue spruce has fallen ill. Many gaping spaces and branches without pines. I'm looking into hiring someone to revive it, but I think it may be too late. What signs should I look for, before spending money or time on saving the tree?

At some ballparks there are designs (i guess thats what you would call them) with the grass. There seems to be two colors: green and dark green. Sometimes the design is simple, like only parallel bars that go across the pitch. Other times it's more complex, like criss-crosses, and the field at this week's Baseball Allstar game in Pittsburgh (there was a big star in the center outfield).

My Rhoddies have a rust colored powder on the leaves and recently have begun developing large black spots on some of the lower leaves. We've been spraying them with a general fungicide recommended by our nursery, but that doesn't seem to be helping. I live the pacific northwest. We have been watering them daily. Any advice?
