I am not familiar with this plant since I am from PA. and have never come across them. But if they are anything like getting rid of poison ivy which is difficult I would try Roundup for Poison Ivy. Roundup goes on the leaves and trans-locates to the root of the plant and kills from the bottom up. Roundup will not stay in the ground either since the sun light breaks it down quickly. I would make sure if you spray it is not windy since drift can occur and if it hits desirable plants it will kill them too. With any herbicide or pesticide wear long clothes, gloves and at least a dust mask. Wash good when done. Hope this helps you. Would love to see a picture of this plant.

These are particular pesky since the seeds, or goatheads can even germinate after being in a fire!! Use a pre-emergent in spring and then hand pick each and every survivor before it blooms. It will take 2 summers but it is well-worth the effort!

if the goatheads are in lawn or other grassy area, you can use regular broad-leaf weed killer ... the 2,4D & 2,4,5T type of weedicides don't kill grass
