We moved into this house last fall. The people who had owned it for 3 yrs did not take very good care of the yard. Late this spring we started working on bringing back the yard , planting flowers , grass and so on. One day I was edging the yard and up came a ton of earwigs. Now I am starting to find the darn things in my house! started in the Basement and now I am even finding them on the second floor! I have a pet, so I am not much into using pesticides as I fear she may ingest or inhale them somehow. Anybody know of some old fashioned tricks or non-chemical ways of ridding us of these creatures?

It is for bass, but just as important, for the beauty of the scenery. I would really appreciate tips on species of trees for shade and scenery, grass, plants, and anything to help the pond become a small haven with a very natural presentation. Lengthy answers are very welcome. Thanks

I have a Silver Queen Maple that I planted a year ago in June. After I planted it, I noticed a damaged spot on the bark. I wrapped it over the winter (like I do all my maples until they deveop a hard bark) and this spring, it budded out and blossomed just fine. Now the leaves look a bit different...the stems of the leaves are reddish and the bark on the bottom has deveoped a few large splits! I can't seem to keep trees alive back there! It is dying? Is there a way I can save it? Should I wrap the bark? Help!

I didn't want to mess with anything so dug up the area, sprayed it with Round Up and filled it with river rock. It looked good the first year. Now every year I spray the weeds and watch them die. The rest of my lawn is bright green and well kept and then there is my dead weed rock bed. I pull out the dead ones and start all over with the Round Up.
WHAT else can I do with it? It looks so terrible. I don't have the money to hire anyone. My daughter and I would have to do it with some family help. Thanks for any suggestions!!

Basically, a neighbour has come round and said that they want to get tree surgeons round to cut branches off a tree in my garden. Apparently the leaves are causing a slip hazard to another of the neighbours, who is 82. They have had a quote of £250 +VAT and want me to contribute/pay in full. There's 3 main issues:
I like the trees - there's more than 1 tree anyway and how do they know it's my tree's leaves causing the problem? Should I pay anything at all? Should I be concerned about this older lady and her ability to live on her own independently - is this tree problem just the tip of the iceberg? Do I take legal advice? Do I ignore it completely? My house is currently up for sale with the sale hopefully completing in the next few weeks so I really don't need this stress! Do I have to tell my solicitor? Advice please!!

We have a little olive tree. It's about 40-50cm high, and was doing very well indoors, we moved it outside and it has slowly been dying- any advice as to what to do with it, should it still be indoors. I think it was in need of repotting- could that be the reason>
