Try mixing 1 oz of eucalyptus oil with 6 oz of water in a spray bottle. Shake well and apply.
Or mix 1-5 -2 oz of lemon balm oil for every 1 oz of water and do the same.
Note that natural remedies may not last as long as some of the commercial brands-so you will need to reappy every 4-6 hours.

Depends on where youre trying to repel them. If on your body, eating a banana thirty minutes before you go outdoors does work. They used to tear me up, the little bastards. Avon sells Skin So Soft which also repels them. If youre looking to rid them from your yard, take one cup of lemon dish soap and one cup of lemon scented ammonia and put in your hose end sprayer and spray the yard at dusk or dawn, three times a week. On your patio, you can put out shallow dishes of lemon scented dish soap; tiki torches and citronella candles are helpful too. You can also stick some Bounce fabric softener sheets in your pocket , they hate those.

I'm one of those unlucky people who attract mosquitoes, fleas, etc., and all the home therapies I've tried (like Vitamin B) did nothing.
I even tried smoking a pipe, which I couldn't stand, eating bananas, changing my aftershave, no aftershave, etc.
