Just wanted to say that I agree, they are wonderful!!!

I have got one, it is a lovely deep red colour....I can't give it to you as I am fond of it, I have been growing it for five years.

I've has a few dodgey moments with it - they don't like direct sun, it burns their leaves. They like a shady spot but with good light.

Why do you want someone to give one to you? Is it because they are so expensive?

Sometimes, garden centres sell little ones - buy one and watch it grow!!

You will be glad you did!

It's OK to ask - if you don't ask, you don't get!!!

japanese maples are very beautiful trees, and very slow growing. i have a gorgeous lime green one and the popular red one. they are quite big now and probably worth a few bob. i doubt if you would get anyone to actually give you one, but i would recomend you buy a decent sized one as i have bought a small one and it died. they are very tempermental , and only repot them at the correct time. ( autumn or early spring) if you go to b&q they have a good supply there, ranging from £20 upwards. youl get a good sized plant for that. garden centres charge a fortune for these trees !!! good luck !

It's 20 years old, 40 cms high and is really classy.
It's worth a fortune !
Cost me an arm and a leg years ago.

As nice as they seem, they are considered exotic invasive species and can out-compete native plants in already stressed forests. Seeds are dispersed by wind and birds.

I've got two; but sorry you can't have them.

You can buy a baby one for £3.99 in Woolworths on the high street.
