This sounded strange to me but my dad argued with me about how pineapples are grown

He says that a pineapple plant doesn't grow pineapples until someone cuts an already grown pineapple in half and places it around the pineapple plant.. then it will start growing pineapples
I thought maybe that could be possible for reproducing methods of pineapples? Like.. the cut pineapple placed around the plant will release pollen or something and make the pineapple plant fertile?

But then you have to ask the question.. which came first the pineapple or the pineapple plant?

I argued with my father for an hour about this and tried to look it up but couldnt find anything about it.
It still seems absurd to me

So 2 q's...can i ax out the big sections of root grwoing new trees at teh base, and can i build the soil up a few inches, all w/out hurting the tree? Does anyone know if it would be a bad idea to have raised flower beds held in by a retaining wall along the front of your house? Are there any issues I should be concerned with?

I am fairly new to veggie gardening. My husband and I have done pretty well but we have cleared out our potatoes and the green beans are pretty much done and we were deciding if there are any veggies we can go a head and plant now or later in the summer or early fall. We are already planning on lettuce. Any other suggestions?

These pine trees are not growing in southern New England. What type of trees are they; does anyone know their name? They were found growing in the wild along Rt 95.

There is a plant in my building at work that my friend loves but we have no idea what it is. I would like to find it and give it to her for her birthday.

Description: It has Dark Purple leaves (that kinda look like butterflies resting from afar. Then some of them have a little (what looks like) lilac/or white flower blooming on them.

Sorry if my description is crappy but if you have any idea of what this flower if please let me know. And if you can link me to a picture that would be helpful.

Thanks You for your in advance.

They're usually found in the front or back yards of older homes in the suburban to rural areas. They come in red, blue or green, mostly. Are they supposed to represent something?

This year for the first time I planted several lettuce plants. They are putting out big leaves and seem to be doing fine, but so far I dont see how they will form heads. Has anyone grown lettuce before, and how and when do they start to give heads?

I would like to plant some blueberry bushes and maybe a few raspberries so that my children and I can walk out back and have a few fresh berries when they are ripe. Is there anything I should know first? Do they bring pests to the yard, or cause any other problems? (we live in zone 5 in a great blueberry area so I know they should do ok with the weather) Thanks so much!
