What am I doing wrong? Last year I had one grow so high that I attached it to my porch and it went as tall as the roof, but I could not get any tomatoes. This year I thought I would be slick and try several different varieties of plants... They all grew, but NO tomatoes. What am I doing wrong?

I have just wandered into my garden and the sight was just stunning. Even though it can look untidy at times that is because it is a cottage garden, the colours and smell are just awesome. I do hope that you are all fortunate enough to have flowers and plants and would love to hear what your favourite flowers or plants are and why.

I am putting a new flower bed in my backyard -- it will be around 60 feet long and only about 2 wide -- I will be using gravel instead of mulch -- it will be full sun to part shade running along a privacy fence. I am looking for ideas of perennials that are tall and not terrible bushy (I'd like to keep them confined in the 2 foot space). I like tall flowers as well as decorative grass. I live in Northern Kentcky, zone 6.

Any suggestions will be much appreciated thanks!

The reason given was simply "Other". The answer contained only horticultural terms, no swear words and it was the asker's favourite answer. I'm not bothered about the points, I just want to help people out. I'm bothered that an answer that the asker liked best has now been removed for no good reason.

I'm looking for suggestions for ornamental plants. I'm redoing a garden spot as an herb garden, and would like to discourage the mosquitos that like to swarm back there. I do not like to use a lot of chemicals, so please don't just say "spray Raid!".

This is the first time I have grown tomatoes outside and look like
having a bumper crop. When I grew strawberries in tubs I put nets
on but they still pecked a few.If they do peck tomatoes what is the best form of protection bearing in mind the tomatoes are in tubs of compost.

I am interested in nutitional veggies, not perfect looking tastless ones. I used a well know flower and veggie plant food last year (Miracle Grow) makes nice flowers. The fruit did not taste sweet and the skins were thick and tough. I have added more garden soil and composted manure this year but I want something more to boost the crop in quantity and taste. Any suggestions? Or should that be enough? I am looking for a home made organic fertilizer, any tried and true recipes? I am planning on sharing what ever grows with family and neighbors. so I am hoping for a bumper crop. I am growing lots of tomatos, cucumbers, some watermelon, carrots, yellow beans,radishes,chives,parsley..oh yes flowers lots. I wanted more but ran out of garden darn!

It does not appear to be insect bites, as larger pieces of the leaves are missing and it looks like a bite has been taken. Any thoughts as to what it might be and how to stop it?

I have a tropical house plant with big leaves. The leaves keep turning brown and drying up one by one. I water it regularly daily with 2 cups of water each day and I fertilize it maybe every 3 weeks or so. The pot is about 14 inches and 10 inches tall. I want to know how I can stop the browning of the leaves.
