Night time, diesel fuel, no match.

Or;

Evening, start your lawn mower, push it over the entrance, And listen to them hit the blades when they come out to investigate the noise and vibration.

How To Destroy A Yellow Jacket Nest

It all depends where their nests are located and whether children or stray pets can access the area. Basically, you need to work at night when they're least active, and you can either douse the nests with a gallon or two of cypermethrin mix (quicker) or bait near the nests with a cyfluthrin bait (takes 3-6 days).

Here’s an article from www.bugspray.com about yellowjacket control that explains how to do it. They also sell the products. I have no connection with them except being a customer, but they’ve never steered me wrong.

I have washed them out with a bucket of water before and ran and the bees moved on.
Yellow jackets are not harmfull and actually helpful.

Use the water and go back for the honey

But if you wanted to kill them I have used the shop vac...put it there and they will be sucked up throughout the day.
You then can spray in the shop vac with bug killer.

That foaming stuff that sprays like 20 feet. Repeat every few hours. It might take a few days to kill the whole nest.

I hear that using gasoline is "ILLEGAL" & dangerous. (I know, many folks do it!)

Does anyone know how deep & how many gallons of water it takes to fill a large "in ground" yellow jacket nest?

I did what I read that sounded good. Put screen over the hole, placed bricks to prevent escape. Used "red wrap" over flashlight as Yellow Jackets cannot see RED light. Prepped the night before. Then layed the screen, secured with bricks & poured dishwashing detergent into the hole, then ran water into hole for what seemed like "forever". I could NOT believe the gallons of water that it took. Then more Dishwashing Soap & slower water. "Supposedly", the detergent covers them & prevents them from flying & the water "drowns" them. But I never got to a point where the water ran over, but didn't want to dilute too much, so the detergent was not diluted. Will check tomorrow. Since the opening is covered with screen, I will probably check the nest for activity, Repeat & then spray with Yellow Jacket killer. (I hear that the "foam" type is best, but we will see.)

I got stung one time. I have a dog & a cat & stings are not pleasant & can be deadly to those who are allergic.

Hope this helps & thanks to whoever gave me the idea. (Don't have a Shop Vvac. Wonder if the queen & larvae remain with that method?

Yea, we always put gas down the hole after dark and burned them!

You can try flooding the nest with the garden hose, too - if it is too close to the house. Sometimes it works.

Wait until night time and pour diesel down each nest hole!! Gasoline is too dangerous! There is no need to light them on fire!!

Gas (i know its expensive as hell right now...but does the trick.) They just go right down. No spinning madly like when you hit them with raid. Its just...Throw gas and drop drop drop.

Please dont smoke while you do this.
