What am I doing wrong? Last year I had one grow so high that I attached it to my porch and it went as tall as the roof, but I could not get any tomatoes. This year I thought I would be slick and try several different varieties of plants... They all grew, but NO tomatoes. What am I doing wrong?

It's because your plants are too tall. All the energy is being diverted to the stalk and not the fruit. Trim them way down (to about 2-3 feet).

I am going to make a suggestion here. When you buy your next tomato plants ask for determinate ones. By this I mean they will only get so big. There are two type determinate and indeterminate. Indeterminate will grow and grow and get really tall. This is what it sounds like you have gotten. If you are getting them in like a Lowe's or Home Depot try a smaller grower who knows the stock well. Then I would only fertilize them with a fertilizer with a high middle number. This middle number will push blooms and not green which nitrogen will give you, and it is the first number. I hope this will help with your next batch you do. Don't give up hope. Happy growing.

Go out first thing and pinch the top foot off it. You then side shoot: at the corner of some leafs what looks like a new plant appears. Pinch those out as well. Be careful not to pinch out the new tomatoes. Get yourself a very fine small brush like an artists brush, (I used to use a rabbits tail) and dust each truss. You are transferring the pollen. As soon as the small tomatoes are about a quarter inch across begin to fee the roots with a tomato feed. If you can get some cow dung and/or nettles put them into a water butt and take off the liquid to use as a feed. It is excellent. In very hot weather use a fine spray on the trusses to help them to set. Good luck.............

Not enough sun and the plants are probably too close together. Tomatoes should be planted in full sun with room to spread. Once the blossoms set shake the plants to move the pollen around and set the fruit. How much fertilizer are you using?

Could be several things.
Too much nitrogen often causes a lot of plant growth with no tomatoes.
It may be too hot for the tomatoes to "take".
You may not have any pollinators.

Hard to say, I have similar problems. Has it been hot? Tomatoes won't set fruit if the high temperature is over 90 degrees. My problem is I live in the desert southwest...so we're hitting 90 degrees by early May.

Sounds like a classic case of too much Nitrogen. Try cutting back on the fertilizer. Do you have bees landing on the plants?

Once they get above two or three feet in height cut them back so they won't spend energy on growing and will instead be spent on growing fruit. Also make sure they're growing in good soil, if needed add some fertillizer.

this usually means too much food, do you water them with a lot of stuff like miracle grow? if so stop. one or two feedings to get them going when they are small is all they need. too much nitrogen just makes the plant grow, they will not root well or produce fruit if they are over fed.

QUIT FERTILIZING!!!!!! Fertilizer will cause the plant to want to grow and not set fruit. I would continue to water and cut the plants back a little bit and watch the magic.
