But the most probable answer is that all fruit trees make too much fruit, then drop some and retain what they can actually support.

Here are two reasons you may be seeing your avocados dropping before they become mature:

1) The Hass variety is known to drop because they tend to be heavier as they approach maturity.

2) Sometimes avocados that mature in the summer will begin to drop because of a disease called ANTHRACNOSE. The disease starts as circular, sunken brown to black spots that are quite small. As the fruit matures, the spots can become as large as half an inch or more and will cause the fruit to crack across the spot. Anthracnose is found to be more prevalent on thinner-skinned varieties.


Here's one way to control Anthracnose:

Spray Copper Sulfate first when blossom buds open. Make 5 applications at four week intervals.

It could be that the tree is not being watered regularly enough
