This is an old house and both wires in the ceiling box were black with some white paint added to them and the same colored wire nuts. So there was no telling which one was the neutral and which was the live wire.

After I installed it, it worked at first, but the next day it no longer works. My electric tester shows that electricity is still flowing to the lights. Other items on that circuit are fine. The lightbulbs are fine. But it doesn't light up.

Did I probably just connect the wrong wires, or could there be some other cause? Could I have harmed the light fixture by connecting the wires incorrectly?

I replaced my roof this summer but there are still leaks below 3 of 6 vents. I used a lot of roofing cement and completely covered the edges of the vents with shingles. Should the bottom half of the vents be exposed? Is more roofing cement the answer?

In my new car it has the home link system (basically a garage door opener). I was reading the manual and it says you can set it up to turn on your porch lights, etc. I went to home depot, but the guy didn't know what I needed. Anyone know what I need? I need a new porch light anyway, so want to get one that is able to do this.

Hey all DIYers, I have a small project I'm considering taking on. Actually, re-taking on. I have a huge "builders" mirror in my bathroom (60'x42') and I want to frame it. Problem is there is absolutley no allowances on either side, so I have to adhere right to the mirror. Any suggestions on what materials to use and how to properly adhere. I've been to a framing store and they want upwards of 100 bucks to build just a small frame.

I live in an apartment building and am trying to put up a wall mounted pot rack in the drywall. I used a stud finder to locate the studs (16" apart). Then I drilled some pilot holes and used #12 2 1/2" wood screws to mount the pot rack. Two of the screws broke off when I was screwing them in - one using a power drill, one by hand. Am I overlooking something or doing it wrong? I've got very little experience with home improvement projects. Thanks!

I saw on www.aquarelle.co.uk that for a bouquet having a diameter of 30 cms one needs 32 roses, for one of 25 cms: 27 roses and for one of 35 cms in diameter 37 roses. I want to use different varieties of flowers instead of roses, but do not know if this proportions will do. How does a professional florist determine the number of flowers vrs. volume proportion when making a bouquet?
