There are Three Ways to have a Clean Roof Again

1. Re-roof - an expensive option. Your roof likely has more useful life.
2. Power Wash or Brush Clean - damages the roof shingles by breaking away the granules that protect & color the roof shortening the life of the roof.
3. Apply Roof-Be-Clean â - just spray it on (after proper dilution as directed) with an ordinary garden pump sprayer. As it goes to work over the next few months, it continues to be effective. When it rains, the stains are gently washed away revealing your roof’s true colors once again (normally in about 3 to 9 months). For heavily stained roofs, additional applications are recommended in 30-45 day intervals until the desired results are obtained. After, your roof is clean, use Roof-Be-Clean â every 12 to 24 months to prevent future staining

Mix 1/3 bleach to 2/3 water.
Pressure washer and spray. Let set for a few minutes, then rinse with clear water. Repeat if necessary.
If very bad, let set about 10 min.. you probably will have to repeat.
Start on roof first. The overflow will help the deck.
Rinse well with clear water.
I'd start with about total of 3 gal. You may need more.

Bleach is your best friend here. A power washer can and will lessen the life of your shingles by essentially giving it extreme wear that it wasn't intended to withstand in a very short period of time. Scrubbing can do less damage but is likewise extra wear on a shingle. Bleach will kill the mold with no scrubbing. Rinse with a garden hose. Consider covering any foundation plantings/bushes/etc with a tarp if they might be sensitive.

I bought one of those pump up type sprayers that holds about a gallon. I fill it about a fourth of the way with bleach, and add water up to almost full. Pump it up and spray the stuff with this mixture real good. Let it set for about an hour, and come behind that with your garden hose sprayer. This will take all of it off!! You might have to scrub just a little in very few spots, but all in all it works just fine. Good Luck!!
