Air compressor is correct, you will need a big one to do the job, I'm talking like on wheels , a contractors unit. Regulate the pressure to not more than 60psi. Hook into main, blow that first then turn on one zone at a time and blow them. Be sure to drain and winterize the pump and associated plumbing when done if you have one, otherwise drain back to main city water line.

Good luck!

Depending on how your system was installed. Do you know if the installer installed what is called a bleeder or drain valve? If they were installed all you need to do is turn off the main water supply to the system and then energize each zone or station with the timer. When this is done the pressure on the system is released and the bleeders will open and drain the remaining water out of the pipes. Then turn your timer to the off position for the winter. If bleeders were not installed you will need to blow the lines out with an air compressor. Be careful not to put to much pressure on the lines. Apply just enough to move the water out.

Take a really really deep breath and then.......seriously you need an air compressor and it should be set at a specific poundage so that it's not too hard and ruins your pipe fittings.
