Hey all DIYers, I have a small project I'm considering taking on. Actually, re-taking on. I have a huge "builders" mirror in my bathroom (60'x42') and I want to frame it. Problem is there is absolutley no allowances on either side, so I have to adhere right to the mirror. Any suggestions on what materials to use and how to properly adhere. I've been to a framing store and they want upwards of 100 bucks to build just a small frame.

Just buy some nice molding
Depot type stores have tons
use some clear silicone (the duct tape of glues)
some painters tape or a bit of hot melt glue to hold the moulding in place, while the silicone dries

don't over do the silicone
then if ever want to take it off, slide a razor knife in beween

You could make your frame out of window casing bought by the foot from the hardware store. Miter the corners and stick it on with some of the new "quick grip" liquid nails, or regular construction adhesive and some double stick tape (the tape is just to help keep it in place while the adhesive dries).

I'd use a flat molding strip. Buy one or mill one out. Cut to fit, stain, then put it on with double sided foam tape. Put the tape on the strips first, then spray it lightly with clear water. This will allow you to position it on the mirror without sticking. When you like where each piece is, push down hard to squeeze out as much water as you can, let it dry a few days without being disturbed.

I think that I would try to use plast molding strips and glue them on -whether it would stick to glass or not is another question -coulod you paint a frame on the glass since you have so little room-or edging the mirror in some decorative way-

my neighbor would use some scrap lumber to make the frame, maybe cca, since it is around water and four sixteen penny nails to fasten it up. I wouldn't, but he would!
