Absolutely OK! Just be smart. Ventilation is vital. Consider a carbon mask. Instead of heat stripping with it's lead fumes, use a gel that gives you complete control over the waste. Dispose of the waste properly. Use rubber gloves and have fun! Alternatively, consider taking the piece to a professional stripper. You won't believe how much easier that is! Do know ahead of time if they 'dip' strip. That can loosen glue joints.

Be in a VERY well ventilated place. Wear gloves and face mask. Ask at the paint store for more advice. Don't do around pregnant women or young children.

I stripped and refinished furniture for two years in my basement. You will not have any problems. Take the usual precautions, gloves, mask. As long as you don't ingest the paint itself, there is no problem.

As long as you use a face mask. Home Depot or Lowes sales people will help you find the one you need. Good Luck!!
