Personally, if it were me, and I saw that the floor, had some "dark spots" and the other parts are light, and different areas are different colors, I would sand the entire floor. (Get one of those floor sanders, and "go to town". Also, get a lot of different "grades" of paper, and go from 100 to 500 or so, what ever they go up to, as some may not have that high, so that it will be smooth, when done).

I would personally use polyeurothane, because it turns a "buttery" flavor, when it ages, and its beautiful. Or, you can use spar varnish, or minwax with different colors to it.

I would put about 5 coats on it, to get it "smooth" if thats what you want, building up the coats, and a light sanding in between and tack cloth to get all the dust up with the highest grade of sand paper you can get. You can get a glass like finish if you take your time and work at it...(its all in what ever you desire and have the patients for).

I wish you well..

Jesse

It depends on the shape they are in. If it's not too bad you can try some on the re-finishers that you rub on the surface found in the hardware stores. If it needs more than that try to link below for step by step process. Good Luck!

The larger hardware stores have products you can wipe on .......or sand it and refinish with a semi-gloss or gloss finish! I'd try the first one is less expensive!
