It is not dry strippable and not waterproof, but has been on the walls (over drywall) for more than 30 years. Still in good shape but needs to be changed.

I have an old dresser that's kinda ugly (paint is flat chocolate color, but I don't feel like scraping all the paint off just to stain and varnish it. Is there some kind of paint or stain I can just slap on top of the old paint to make it look semi-nice?

Last year I used scotch tape, it held pretty well but there must be something better that won't make holes in my woodwork.

I am in college now, so I want something sophisticated. Right now my walls are lavender, and I hate it! I am fun, outgoing person and I like contrasting tones, but that always seems to clash with being sophisticated. My furniture is white, so basically i can do any colors so long as the walls are all the same color. I need a new bedspread and decorations, too. Any ideas on what to do?

I bought 12" x 12" ceramic tile from Lowe's branded as SURFACE SOURCE with a PEI rating 4. I bought each tile for $0.58 each. I want to use the tile for the kitchen, bathrooms, laundry room and living room. The tile was made in Mexico. I think the tile was being discontinued at Lowe's. Thus, I think that is why the price was so low. Did I make a mistake? The tile looks good and feels good so I do not see a problem with. I need an honest opinion.

I'm using 1/8 inch masonite panels to form a lighting valence. The masonite panels are over a frame of 1x2's. What should I use to fill in the joints between the panels?? Should I stay away from drywall compound? I'm afraid the drywall compound will crack due to flexing of the panels. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Right now the walls are brown with the palm tree theme. I want something girly and relaxing but my husband has to like it too. Any ideas? What color paint would make the room look bigger other than white?

I am redoing my daughters bedroom, and I'm having a hard time getting the border off of the wall. I thought that it would peal off easily if I just wet it, but that's not working well at all. Does anyone have any tips that will make it come off easier and cleaner? I am repainting the walls, so I need it to come off well. Thanks.

I left my dog in a room so he wouldnt tear up the rest of the house. Big mistake! He completely chewed up about a foot of the carpet. Even bigger problem being that I am renting the house, which the owners are going to be trying to sell shortly. I just need to know if there is any way possible to fix it? And if its possible to get the carpet to match?

I'm 14 year old freshman. My room is in desperate need of a huge change. Right now the walls are light pink and so are my curtains. My furnature is white and my bed is honey colored. I've been thinking of using a theme. I'm really into acting and theatre so maybe a Broadway theme. Or a NYC or Paris theme. I know I might get tired of it but in four years I'll be outta here. Another idea I had was have my room completely white with a few things that are a single color. Any ideas?

I have asked a few questions on the topic over the last couple of days, because I am lost! My windows measure 36" width x 49" length.

I am trying to buy curtains, and the measurements of the curtains are confusing me. jcpenney's says that the measurements for the curtains they are selling is 50"w x 63"L. I know they say to find which curtain size to buy, you measure 1.5x the amount of your window size. Now, am I measuring 1.5x the width of my WHOLE window, or half of my window, since each curtain is used for one half of the window?

I am so confused. Please help.

Also, does it have to say on the website if the curtains are sold as a pair, or is that implied, and otherwise, you are only paying for one half of your window?

An area rug over carpeting

Give several reasons and scenarios where one might be more appropriate than the other to use.
