Okay. A little about me. My name is Cavilynn AKA Cavy. I have a decent sized room maybe I don't know 14 by 12. That would seem right. Well, it was my brother's room and it still has puke green wallpaper. EW. He bought royal blue paint, not the greatest but okay. I was thinking of doing blue, emerald green, and sunflower yellow. Blue on the walls of course and present in my lamp. I have multiple decor that has the grren and yellow. Also, I have a light green mushroom chair I'd like to use. I'm not all match this and that this second. My bed it white and is the kind with the drawers underneath. My stand is partially stained cherry, but will be painted. I have a white "thing" that is used for storage that could use paint. Also, a big entertainment center that's black, a small storage thing that's black with clear plastic drawers, and A small wood table that can be painted. What should I paint the white thing, stand, and table. I want it to look nice. Mainly, the room needs to be versital.

I had to buy some new icicle style lights this year. They always want to try to curl back up when I put them up. Does anyone have a surefire way to get them to hang straight?

I need around 10 litres of cream matt emulsion - B&Q do it in their cheap paint category but only in 2.5 litre tins - it is too expensive when you need to buy 4.

Can get Magnolia in 10 litre there but want cream.

This is the first real Christmas for my 2 1/2 year old son and me. So, I would like to get a real Christmas tree this year, verses my fake one. So, as a "first time real tree buyer", I do have some questions:

*When should you buy it to last longest?
*What type is the best for longevity?
*How do you protect hardwood floors under it?
*What is the best tree stand (plastic with the hole in the center or the metal ones that you screw in for the width of trunk?
*How to water it and when? Do you use aspirin in water?
*What to look for when picking it out at Tree Forest?

Any other advice would be great. It will be just me tying it to the top of my car and hauling it back to the house. Guess I also should know the best way to do that (string or bungie cords). I have a VW wagon with roof rails.

Thank you so much!

Hi,

I will be working on my baby's nursery. I will be repainting the whole room and also want to add some butterfly sillhoutte designs on the walls. The room is green with the sillhouttes in darker green.

Option 1:
Should I paint first and then use a stencil over to paint the designs onto the wall? I would prefer to avoid this if possible.

Option 2:
Since it is a sillhoutte, can I paint a patch of the wall a darker green (for the butterflies) and then later once it is dry, place my butterfly design pattern (that is on paper/thin cardboard) on top of the painted area and then paint over with the lighter green that is to cover the whole wall? WIll that work? I am just afraid the colour may run?

Please help?

i believe that it is easier to just buy a house but my family says we should build. i think it would cost alot more including the apartment for a year, supplies, and contractor and his year. the house is expected to take a FULL year.

We're planning on redoing our bathroom at some point and I'm looking for opinions.

We have wainscotting in our bathroom that we plan to paint white. I'd like to do a cherry stain colored vanity, but others have told me I should do a white vanity to match the white wainscotting. What do you think?

I have a queen size bed. So I bought queen size sheets. I get them home and they don't fit! They are too small. So I go back to the store and buy king size sheets. They are too big!! What the hell is this about? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

I am 24 and live in apartment by myself, I have been flirting with the idea of buying some beautiful antiques, but then that would mean I could not spend as much on going out with friends, clothes, etc. Should I wait til I am married and have more money in the bank and a house to buy these items, and just stick with the furniture I have now?

Ok, try to visualize this..

I am going to hang some garland around a room in the space where the wall meets the ceiling. (Normally where Crown Molding is.) In my apartment, I normally use a staple gun and it has worked very well, then I just touched up paint after I pulled it down. However, I need a method for hanging this garland that won't leave marks or damage the walls or the paint.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could use? (BTW, there is no crown molding where I will be hanging this garland.)
