I have a queen size bed. So I bought queen size sheets. I get them home and they don't fit! They are too small. So I go back to the store and buy king size sheets. They are too big!! What the hell is this about? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing?

It sounds like you didn't purchase the deep pocket sheets. Most mattresses are 15 to 20 inches deep these days and cannot use the older style. Read your sheet package to make sure of the depth and you will be fine.

Yes, I have a deep pillow topped king sized mattress. Regular king sized fitted mattress sheet don't fit my bed so I have to buy deep pocket sheets to get the depth. Same thing on my guest bed which is a queen sized pillow topped mattress on which regular queen sheets will not fit.

Yes, it's annoying as _ell to get home and find that they won't fit. My solution is to buy only flat sheets in one size up from the mattress size. Then I make the bed with hospital corners.
That works well for me, but sometimes it's hard to find individual sheets rather than sets. One advantage is that you can get fun, interesting color combinations of bedding and often individual sheets can be found on clearance.

if you have a deep fitted mattress, buy sheets that state how deep a mattress they cover

I had the same problem too, my Sister gave me QS bedsheets that doesn't fit so I just cut the elastic bands to make it fit

MAYBE THAT BRAND IS SCREWED UP. DO YOU HAVE A PILLOWTOP MATTRESS? IF SO, YOU NEED PILLOWTOP SHEETS.... GO WITH A DIFFERENT BRAND.
