I had to buy some new icicle style lights this year. They always want to try to curl back up when I put them up. Does anyone have a surefire way to get them to hang straight?

Try hanging a small lead fishing sinker off the end of each downward strand for a while. Just be sure to use a safe hook for it so no metal cuts into the wires. As for me, I only have one strand of them for my front window, so I put them on a PVC pipe rack I have for hanging plants, tie the ends down and stretch them for a couple of days before putting them in the window. Looks odd, but it works...

Fibre Optic Tree here jake. It's easier. We've been through using, Christmas Tree lights for 20 years, for the last 3 years we opted for the Fibre Optic Tree. It's so, so, easy, up and running straight away. I'm too old for all the hassle, haha.

I think you are trying to fight what normal icicles do, not hang straight. Lay them down on the ground and straighten them as best you can before you hang them.

It's too early to put them up. It sounds like they are protesting. If you hang them in December they are bound to be much more cooperative.
