I have asked a few questions on the topic over the last couple of days, because I am lost! My windows measure 36" width x 49" length.

I am trying to buy curtains, and the measurements of the curtains are confusing me. jcpenney's says that the measurements for the curtains they are selling is 50"w x 63"L. I know they say to find which curtain size to buy, you measure 1.5x the amount of your window size. Now, am I measuring 1.5x the width of my WHOLE window, or half of my window, since each curtain is used for one half of the window?

I am so confused. Please help.

Also, does it have to say on the website if the curtains are sold as a pair, or is that implied, and otherwise, you are only paying for one half of your window?

You buy 1.5 the width of the WHOLE window, because it is a set.
For a 36" x 49" window, you need a 50" by 54" in curtains.
63" will drag past the sill about 13".
If the pic shows two, or refers to them in plural, they are a pair.

Go to amazon.com

Also, the proper hanging of curtains is not about how big your window is. You want your curtains to go from the ceiling to the floor. Also, buy them bigger than your window. Who cares if they are too big? Scrunch them! If they are too long, just cut and re-hem them! Not a big deal. The curtain rod is the only real issue. But I tend to buy mine longer than the length of the window so it looks like I have big windows... which I don't! Hahaha!

Don't stress so much!

1.5 times the WIDTH of your windows, not the height. got access to a sewing machine? make your own curtains, it's only 4 hems per curtain and will probly save you some money!

ACTUALLY 1.5 to 2 times the width of the wall space you want to cover... (sometimes you want to cover part of the wall too!) Measure the WHOLE space. The "Pair" is implied. : )
