Some details:
I am buying it for my female friend
Its a canvas oil painting 14" by 11" in size.
the painting is dark blue on the edges and has lots of blue in it
her wall is beige in color (potentially going to be colored light green)

I am not sure what color wodden frame will look good (brown, cherry red, black, beige, etc.... )

The frame should ALWAYS compliment (but never overpower) the picture it's framing. Therefore matching it to the wall is unnecessary; if it doesn't look good in that particular room, it can always be relocated.

I would recommend that you take it to a professional framing service and have THEM tell you which frame would be best with the coloration and style of painting.
