Decorating & Remodeling - February 2007

it all started with a small damp patch on the carpet inbetween the hall and the kitechen. I know I should have got someone out to it straight away, but I kept thinking it would ge....now there are wet patches in the dining oom too!!! has anyone any ideas what this water could be!!Also I dont know who to call out!! I know it sounds daft, but do I need a plumber or builder or a handyman!!! please no silly answers as its getting me down

i never had to buy one before and not really to sure about them. is all slip covers the same size for a couch? adn love set covers too? it is like a one size fits all for a couch or not? and do they fit pretty much all styles regaudless of the puffiness or the size of the arms etc. i dont want to buy something that i have to keep taking back since i dont have a clue about them. other then they go over the couch etc.

I just moved into a new apartment and the walls are bare and boring. I'm REALLY tight w/ cash right now so I cant go out and buy a whole bunch of paintings/ frames/wall decor, etc. I also don't own the apartment so I cant paint the walls any other color.
What are some cheap ways I could make the walls look interesting and original?

this set is in very good condition. I've been everywhere online and cannot find anything like it. It's black and white, the pitcher has aunt jamima on it, it's a very nice set. I don't want to sell it, just interested in what it's worth.

I live alone and have made the transition from college to adult life. The old wall posters don't cut it any more...but most of the wall art out there is very feminine. Flowers, flowers and more flowers. Cutesy cottages by a pond. Butterflies and dragonflies. Any suggestions on wall art or other wall decor for a guy's house?

Were remodeling our house and getting new countertops. Were undecided between granite and corian. I personally like the seamless corian where the sink and counter is all one piece. But I don't know how the corian sink is to take care of. In your opinion which do u prefer? and why? and whats the difference in price? how much does each go for per sq foot? Any input helps. I need to lay a 10 x 10 slab in my backyard to extend a patio and to build an overhang onto. I need detailed (as you can) instructions on how to do this, such as how thick, what type of concrete to use, how to set up a frame, etc., and any other tips you can give to help me do this on my own, since most companies want $550 + to do it for me and that sounds ridiculous. I have a little construction know-how and a willingness to do it on my own, just need to know the specifics to get it done. Email me if you need more details. I am painting my room soon. I am thrilled that I have chosen colors! My bathroom is going to be like an apple green. Two walls in my room are going to be a chocolate/coffee bean brown and the other two light purple, like a lavendar or MAYBE lilac. Do you know of any online sites that show paint colors?

My sofa is dark choclate leather, my armchairs are wing chairs wide strips of burgundy, avocado and greenish beige stripes. The curtains are avocado and off beige stripes as well...
