We've just finished making that same decision! There are so many choices, but this decision helps make the kitchen yours.
Corian really does have seams (I loved that sink thing too!) that are well hidden. Granite is actually higher maintenance than we thought (chips easily) and has to be sealed for upkeep.
We have six children (five teens) and a dog. We finally chose to go with a quartz composite top. There are several comapanies/choices out there and they can look a lot like both Corian or granite. We ended up with the DuPont line, but looked at silestone and Ceasarstone as well.
Price is different in every state, but you can see it all online at this site. Good luck!

Corian is much easier to take care of- simple scratches can be filed away. Corian is under warranty and granite has none - sometimes granite breaks.
As for cost when I got estimates they were close- Installed with tile backsplashes, about $35 sq ft. I got Corian on the main counter (molded in sink, and the secondary counter accross the room). I did granite on the island 6ft long and 36 inches wide. Ona small counter- 12 inches wide I put a stainless steel piece. perfect next to the range. All are beautiful, wear well, the granite shines.

Corian is not seamless. The seams are just well hidden. It is not good with heat. It is repairable if damaged, because it does scratch easily. It absorbs stains, especially white. Corian is so 90's. If you want a more modern look, go with granite. The seams are colored to match. Now, you do have to seal it periodically because it is a natural product, but it is worth it. It provides a sleek look that will give you a bigger return if you sell later. With granite, I suggest a drop in sink that can be easily changed as you desire or require. An included Corian sink can be very expensive to replace.

This is a puzzler I've worked with both granite and corian. Both are extemely durable and easy to clean. The only downside I would have to say would be scratches. Corian does scratch and is very noticable, granite scratches are harder to see. As for the price I don't know I only installed. I feel prices for either are comparable depending on the thickness. My personal choice would be granite because I like a stone look.

They are both great products, but my choice in counter tops is Soap Stone, the reasons is that Soap Stone (real stone) unlike Corian is not man-made and does not stain so you will not have to take out the wet sand-paper to remove the red wine stains nor will you have to worry about bacteria on the surface, soap-stone is non-porous. Granite is a porous stone surface and holds up much better than Corian but it is porous and bacteria grows on it, Soap-Stone is your best bet and the cost is between the cost of Corian and Granite. If you have any further questions email me at
dzign2006@yahoo.com and I can send further information, based upon where you live and companies you can receive the best service and best quality from.

Granite will last a life time if you treat it well. It just involves retreating and resealing about once a year or so. This takes about 10 mins to do. If you take really good care and seal you will be good with granite forever. Upside too....its a great stone for resale value.

We just replaced our granite because it cracked and chipped and expensive to repair. we replaced with corian (witch hazel) and wished I had purchased this sooner. Easy to care and maintain.

Don't do either 1 of those. I used to install both of them and this is the problems/ complaints i came across.
with Granite:
*if it breaks you have to repair the whole piece
*its very expensive
Corian:
* Scratches show up badly on this
* Heat warps and expands, overtime this makes the counters look uneven
* If it gets damaged a lot of the times with Corian the companies discontinue their makes so if you need to replace it, its impossible. You have to replace everything.
Here are some ideas
For my brothers kitchen we used regular floor tiles, glossy kind though.
My ex girlfriends dad's house we used bamboo flooring.
