I want to place a bookshelf against a wall where the floor is uneven, forcing the piece to tip forward. I will secure it to the wall with a brace at the top, but this will leave a small gap under the base of the shelf at the front. I think I need to wedge something under the base to fill the gap, but I'm not sure what would work. It would have to be 'wedge' shaped, about a half an inch at its thickest.

Does anyone of a product or a trick that will make this easier? I have a one year old son who is hanging off of everything, so it needs to be as secure as possible.

Please help.

We have a 3000 square foot 4 bedroom home and have no idea what to do with all the space. We have 1 as master, 1 as guest bedroom and the other 2 have nothing in them. I have my pool table downstairs, so a game room is out of the question. They are not that big, so I thought about a computer room but the computer is in the master. They do not have cable or phone hookups so I dont know. Is there any way to get the computer in there and have internet without having the phone company come out and put a new plus for 150 bucks?

I'm interested in painting a very small half bath with a 10 foot ceiling, and I have NO idea what color would look good. It is only 3 fet wide, and 8 feet deep and I don't want guests to feel like they are trapped in a very small box! Anyone had any experience with this?

I live in a duplex apartment; the walls are paper thin and my next door neighbor is driving me batty. He talks loudly to himself and screams profanities very early in the morning and wakes me up. I'd like to put some kind of barrier on my side of the common wall, but I'm unsure what will actually buffer the noise. Someone suggested the foam egg stuff that you put on a bed. Whatever I put up as a barrier, I will cover with a nice fabric so the wall won't look so tacky. Thanks for your help!!!

I recently replaced a laminate kitchen countertop in my kitchen. After installing the new countertop pushing it against the wall I found that the drywall behind was uneven (wavy), since the new countyertop's backsplash was straight. The problem: New countertop is set in place & I have uneven drywall which leaves about 1/4inch space between wall & countetop at one end of countertop while the other end is snug fit. One option was to trace the dry wall contours before installing the countertop & jigsaw the backspalsh, but I did not do that. So now if I plan to re-paint I will have to use lot more calk at one end than other which will show up if I use dark paint. Other option is to pull down part of drywall below cabinets upto the countertop and then install a new drywall finish it & repaint it. Third is installing a hardibacker board in such a way that it is parallel to countertop all through and then cover that with tiles. Hasanyone met with such problem & what otions are best.
