I found a vacuum cleaner attachment (universal) made just for fan blades at Home Depot (in the ceiling fan/lighting dept.). It sweeps the top and bottom of the blades in one swoop. Also, old pantyhose work well and help to keep the dust from falling everywhere if there is a build-up of dust.

on the top part of the ceiling fan blade you need to wax it. This puts a light coating on and makes it a little harder for dirt to build up. Otherwise, for the rest of the fan is just plain rag and water.

of all house cleaning, ceiling fans are my biggest enemy! lol i usually use my vacuum first, with a brush attachment to get the dust off, then wipe the blades down with any cleaner of choice. try to avoid any oily polishes, this tends to attract even more dust! another thing that works pretty well, try to turn it on atleast once a day for a hour or so on low to avoid dust build-up.
hope this helps!

Hi
I turn them off, use a ladder or stepstool and climb up. I wipe the blades on both sides with Pledge or other wood polisher. If they are really dirty, I wipe them off first with a cleaner like 409, Crud Cutter or even warm water with detergent. I still use the polish after because it helps keep the blade shiny and protected. The fixture itself I usually wipe off with some kind of cleaner- 409, Windex, etc. Again, if it is really dirty with greast or cig. smoke, I use a stronger cleaner like Crud Cutter, ...
Hope this helps,
Liz
