candles. Use three of anything along the middle. 3 like vases, 3 urns, 3 candles, or 5 of anything that is small.
Use a window box filled with grass- real grass, or stones. Use a lone branch or feathers- I used peacock feathers in an urn at Christmas. Use Christmas balls glued together or anything that reflects light in a tall clear vase. You can get a box, decorate it and fill with sand for a zen feel. How ever you decorate for your next meal- make it you, and personalize it with what you like.

Anything can be a centerpiece that fits the space. A square tablecloth angled with a centerpiece is beautiful. Tableclothes are a hot ticket in the decor world right now! Especially anything vintage!!! What do you like? What goes with the scheme of your dinningroom? Pull ideas from what you already have...it could be as simple as a wooden bowl with wooden balls to a lead crystal bowl with lemons...visit HGTV.com for tons of ideas. Plus realsimple.com. Look through decorectors magazines as well.
What ever you use make it your style to fit your room!

here's an idea... make a little knic-nack to put in the center of the table, if you have kids then you could ask them to make you one. If that is not a good idea for you then get a serving bowl-preferably an old one that won't be missed- cover it with wrapping paper, then put some sort of item in the dish...and change the item frequently-if you like- so when you have guests over they will look in the centerpiece and say something like... "Hey wasn't there a piece of fruit in there last night?" It's really cool and it works wonders esp. with just wanting to decorate the table or even a mantel of a fireplace or anywhere. You can get wrapping paper anywhere and really cheap too. I hope this helped you out.

I have a table runner for extra color. My centerpiece is a series of three glass cylinders, they have a glass cup that sits inside at the top and that holds a ball candle. Inside the cylinder I have pinecones and berries, cinnamon sticks because of the holidays. I change the inside with shells and branches, I've had all sorts of things inside , at one point I used colored water. You can try Bed bath & beyond or Linnens & things or try Ebay I've had them for a while but I think you can still get them

I have a vintage glass serving platter wiith two large cracked glass balls in the middle and two beaded feathery looking Christmas ornaments around the edge of the platter. The beaded pieces don't look like Christmas ornaments but I bought them in the Christmas aisle. Use whatever is special to you and whatever makes you smile.
