I will be painting my 2 year old son's room. I am going for a modern look. He has white furniture. I am stuck because of the tile color... My brother was living here with his wife and daughter and they chose this tile, I would hate to get rid of it as it was put in only a few months ago..

here is a photo of the tile so you can get some idea...

Alright, let me try to make this question as simple as possible. I live in the home that I grew up in as a child, and, there were tennants living here for a few years before I moved in. My parents were generous in allowing them to renovate as they liked, but now that I'm here I want to pull my hair out. lol. The kitchen had brick paneling on the lower half, which they painted white, and in turn I have painted back to brick. The dining room however, had wooden panels on the lower half of the wall, including baseboards installed by my great grandfather, and chair rails. The previous tennants painted over the wood panels and chair rails (and, to boot, put the ugliest tackiest wallpaper I have ever seen on the upper half.) I don't have a ton of money to restore this room, but I would like to put it back as close as possible to the way it was. What would be the cheapest, yet still attractive way to fix the wooden panels? Is wainscoting expensive?

I currently have a linoleum floor that is very cold when you step on it bare foot. I hate that cold feeling, especially in the winter. How can you make your kitchen feel more warm?

I have a very big island; so the installer has to use 2 pieces of same granite to fill up the whole island. After the installation, I found out the color of those 2 granites are a little different. One is darker then the other. Is there any easier way to correct it? The granite is Tropical Brown. Thanks for the help.

I am adding a closet to a room that didn't have a closet. I guess now this room would be considered a bedroom now. How much does that increase the value of the house on average.

This may sound lame and pathetic, but I need a strategy to keep my room clean. I clean it and it looks nice, but in two weeks, its a disaster again and I hate it!

I have a beautiful ceramic plate I would like to hang on a wall, but I can't find a device capable of holding such a large plate. The plate is 22" in diameter in 4" deep. It weights about 20 lbs.

I have spent hours searching the net and I have found plenty of plate holders, but none that hold a plate this large.

Does anyone know of a device I can buy? Or is there something I can make?

Some restrictions:
* I don't want to glue anything to the plate
* I don't want to build a shelf on the wall

I am essentially looking for a solution similiar to the standard wire hangers made to use small plates.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

I am about to paint two rooms. I have searched the web for easy solutions regarding the necessity of washing walls, ceiling prior to painting. Some sites say yes, others say no - and just give surfaces a thorough dusting. I would like to avoid the washing step if possible. Any suggestions regarding this disgusting chore.

My husband and I know that there must be some good mom and pop shops that have good quality inexpensive furniture. We go online to Ebay as well as some outlets but they over charge or the items are already used. Any stores out there that want to advertise to me.. I will be your biggest customer. Looking in L.A.!
