Children love bright colors. There are so many things you can do for a little boy...the easiest thing to do is look at wall paper for childrens rooms and select your colors from these samples. That way you may get an idea for a theme for you sons room plus the advantage of matching the perfect colors with one-another. Most paint stores can computer match any color on the paper. Remember, don't let color scare you...and let your inner child come out when decorating...

Just using some of the ideas other people have posted.
You could do the blackboard paint on a part of the wall. I think that would be really inspiring as they grew up and could have a place to draw. Then if you found some of the childrens wall stickers, they come in a strip and put it just under halfway around the wall, you could choose one colour out of it to paint the bottom half of the walls and another colour out of it for the top half. I think a deep blue around the bottom half and a light/medium grey around the top with a strip of trains/cars or trucks would look modern while still being fun for your son and matching in with the white. I would just put a large mat over the tiles and then dress his bed up with a childrens bedspread with a bright red doona cover or something similar.

Hi there, Drew 2376 had the right idea but even better, pain the walls in a blue color with a chair rail dividing the wall. On the bottom half use chalkboard paint. You can do it in the same color as the top half or use a slightly darker shade. The Martha Stewart magazine for January 07 had a great article on how to make the chalkboard paint yourself. I used it on a section of my kitchen, it works great and children really do love a chalkboard. I home schooled my boys and had a big chalkboard hanging in my kitchen for 12 years. We used it as much as they did.
