Try getting some small baskets or containers to hold various kitchen implements in, as well as some fruit or vegetables. Find some curtains to liven up the window, if there is one. Put a wooden and a plastic cutting board on the counter- they have colored boards now so thats an easy way to add a splash of color. Put some magnets or a magnetic calendar for the front of the fridge. Throw some apple pie or pumpkin pie spice into a pan of water and simmer it to smell the place up, a tablespoon in a small pot of water will do the trick. Go have a look at the housewares section of a department store to get some ideas of things that would liven the place up a little, without spending a fortune. A nice print for the wall, a clock, help break up a big painted wall. If you have a table in the kitchen, put a small tablecloth or placemats on it and a seasonal flower arrangement. Get small rugs for the floor in front of the oven and sink. Places like Walmart always have them fairly inexpensively and you can always toss them when you tire of them. Find things you like and put them out and around. It doesn't have to be something specifically for a kitchen, and it can be useful or not depending on you. If you have a white kitchen, try bright or bold colors, otherwise you might try a contrasting color or complimentary color. Just pick what you like, what makes you feel good and homey, and the kitchen will fall into place.

My kitchen was the same---not warm and cozy. I have a rooster theme going on so found new curtains. Added a new set of red canisters to the counter, (same red as in curtain) added placemats to table. Purchased a couple yards of co-ordinating material and covered my cabinet doors (my cabinet doors have the frame around them) so I just covered inside the frames. Made my kitchen look so much better. Baskets with fruit is always warm. If you have a basket that you like and it is the wrong color you can spray paint it a contrasting color. Hope this helps..

I think deep wooden items make a space more warm... I would try a nice large wooden bowl with lemon and limes in it.. OR just plain red capsicum set out in it can look quite good. I also think that some stainless steel can also be quite homely - but don't over do it, then it feels clinical.. Just a kettle and toaster can be a nice touch.. Also add some of your favourite photos or a collage to your fridge to make you think of happy times when you're in there.... Of course it could just depend on the type of space you have - also think about your lighting. Softer lighting options can make a huge difference (although you would want to have the option of brighter light when you need it)

Use area rugs.. not just scatter rugs, make sure you have placemats on the table, also you may want to put in drapes if you have a wall with windows. darkening the room a little will give it a cozy feel, also burning jar candles or using a tart burning helps. good luck.

Try adding some scented candles...or some floral arrangements.

The most obvious thing would be to paint using a 'warm' color; yellows, peaches, corals, etc...what color is it now? Tha's where you have to start!!!! what color are your cabinets? etc...email me if you like...Good luck.
