I am looking for a color that will give the room a simple clean modern look.

I am perfectly pleased with the tile flooring in the bedroom.. I've never been too fond of carpet and had it removed and tile put in. I did have the walls a hot pinkish color prior to painting it white.

Go with a soft grey, one with a light sprakle effect.

dark colours, especially walls and ceiling, will give a sort of optical illusion that the room is smaller than it actually is.
...This is normally considered undesirable =p ..so while deep, dark colours like maroon, hunter green, navy, and black all are pleasing in combination with black, ..it's rarely the best of ideas for painting a room.

If pink is your thing, a preposterous shade of like.. hot pink would be the way to go =p ..that is the shade of pink most suiting to black. White with black trim, as you have it now, is probably the best bet, but you apparently want to change it =p ...I then would suggest some shades of off-white (eggshell, bone, cream, ivory ..that ought to be the order of yellowness of the colour)

...odd that a bedroom has tile floor by the way =p
unless you're really trying to have the room be stylish, the best option is to have a very light coloured wall and ceiling, for any bedroom, irrespective of the floor colour.

I quite like the idea of the black tiling. I would probably keep some of the white on the wallls and do a (dare I say) pea green in a block running in a strip down one wall and the ceiling.. It's quite hard to describe but I can see it in my head! It would be like one green wall and a green ceiling but there would be a white strip (quite thick) running around the edges... Do you kind of get what I mean?

you can find the shimmery paint at mondernmasters.com
my husband works for a paint distrubutor. just another idea also... i used a shimmery champagne color to paint my dining room, but first painted the walls beige & did huge stripes of the champagne color on top to give a little more to the room. so you could do something similar w/ grey paint w/ silver on top - good luck!!!!

Go with a deep taupe or khaki color it looks great with black. trim the room with white and then use picture frame in black for your art work or photo which will give you color. accent the bedding with pillows that are in taupe, black or white also consider monogramming the accent pillows or shams to give a very elegant look. good luck.

I agree with the khaki color. Really warms up a room. With white trim it looks sharp and neat.
I would think about accenting with red. Red rug, red pillows, maybe a vase with red silk flowers.

Maybe some burgundy colour would go with your black tile floor?

Maybe hunter Green?

I don't know much about what colour goes with black, but I know you will make a lovely choice :-)

Well if you're looking for something quite subtle, natural calico is lovely. It's an off-white but not yellow and dated looking like magnolia is nowadays.
