This may sound lame and pathetic, but I need a strategy to keep my room clean. I clean it and it looks nice, but in two weeks, its a disaster again and I hate it!

12 steps to a clean room
1) get a laundry hamper, dresser, hangers
2) wash & dry all clothes then put in dresser or hang up
3) when u take it off put in hamper, do laundry 1-2 a week
4) get trash can
5) no eating or drinking in room, water ok however clean up bottles or glasses in morning
6) make bed daily, new sheets weekly
7) in morning get up make bed take shower throw laundry in hamper
8) vacuum twice a week
9) hang bath towel in bathroom
10) put change in jar
11) dust once a week
12) open windows for air at least daily

I have the same problem. Its mostly clothes though for me. I put something on dont like it and then throw it down and not hang it up. Ive found that having a specific spot for things doesn't work. They never end up there again. I like to keep big bins under the bed or in the closets. That way its still a little messy but looks clean to everyone else. The only way for anything to stay clean sadly is to pickup. I let a few things get left out the pick them up every few days. It doesn't get completely messy and if feels cleaner. It takes time to get used to picking up after you use stuff but at least your room will be clean and wont take as long as it does every two weeks.

Not a stupid question, you were just the only one brave enough to ask. The easiest way to keep a room clean is to get organized. That means that everything has a certain place. Including reciepts, dirty clothes, gum wrappers, books, ect. Putting a small trash can in your room might help. This way, when you walk in w/ say a bag of new clothes, you can easily get rid of the tags and bags without them ending up on you floor. Also, restrict yourself from any food in your room. Another thing that helped me was becoming more decisive about what is clean and what is dirty. If you can stand to wear the outfit a second time w/ out washing it, then put it up as soon as you take it off, otherwise throw it in the hamper. Hope this helps. God Bless!

You need a plan. Have a checklist and everyday before retiring make sure that everything on your list has been done. If you get into the routine of putting things back when you are finished with them, vacuum on certain days, dust certain things at certain times. It is just time management you need. You already know how you want your room to look, you just need something to remind you to do the little things that should be done on a daily basis. Good luck. I know that you can do this..

That's funny cuz i have the same problem! Wen you wear something, put it in ur laundry or hang it back up..wen u use something, remember to put it back. If your trying on clothes for an interview etc.. make sure the clothes u choose not to wear are placed back in the closet, or u'll end up in a pile. Stuff considered trash, should be thrown away and not laying around...Keep that up and u may see a difference

Your strategy: Clean it. Clean it once a week if it's a disaster in two. That's all there is to it.

I have trouble with this too. Just get into the habit of organizing your stuff. Vacuum and dust your room so that it looks clean. Also get rid of small things and put them in cupboards or something. Your room will look cleaner if you get rid of small things like pencils, cd's, soda cans, water bottles. B as plain as possible.

oh wow i am like you..i never used to be able to walk across one side of my room lol... actually it's kinda like that now..

the only thing that has helped a bit is having storage like drawers\boxes/shelves etc.. giving everything a place. and gettting rid of the things you don't need

good luck haha
