Any special mirror stickies I have to buy...? I dont think I can use nails to pound on the colleges' walls. The tall mirror doesnt have anything in the back of it such as a hook to hang, it's just bare.

One wall in my LVRM is wood, but is painted white to match the other walls. I would like to paint just this one wall but I don't know what color I should paint it. Our coffee tables and TV stand are dark brown wood and our sectional is a bluish-grey color. Any ideas on a color that would look ok with these colors? Thanks for the help!!

I'm taking over a tiling job that is half completed, in the shower the last tiler left a rubbery membrane that is loosely stapled to the lower walls and floor. I don't know if I'm to keep stapling through this stuff, or put "backer-board" on top of it (which would also include putting screw holes in it), or wheighing it down with tile (doubtful). Any advice, or tips on websites that have the answer would be much appreciated.

I'm getting my basement finished and the contracter is strongly recommending french drains. Every other contracter we met with said that if we haven't had any water problems yet, we should be ok. We are not below ground level. Thanks for your suggestions

I'm 17 (female) and looking to redecorate my room.
I want the room to be girly but not overly-girly since this will probably be my last time redecorating before I go off to college and I want it to be mature.

Any color scheme ideas (including rug) or just any ideas about furniture in general too. Again, nothing to girly. Thank you.

I guess I mean, is it a fire hazard to use a spray-painted lamp shade, if it's only the outside of the shade is painted?

I love making unique original scrapbooks. Unfortunately, I can't make a scrapbook for everything in my life. Friends have told me that I should make scrapbooks for other people who want them but may not have a creative mind or the time. Would you pay for someone to make you a cool way of displaying your treasured moments? If so how much do you think is reasonable?

I'm renovating a farmhouse, and have just bought new kitchen cabinets. I'm now amazed how expensive work surfaces are going to be... granite at £3500, manmade material (e.g. corian) at £1500. I don't want to use a cheap looking chip board material, and wondered if there was a cheaper natural alternative material out there. In France, I have seen kitchens use ceramic tiles which I like the sound of (& would only cost c. £600 to supply & fit). However, some people say the gouting is not hygenic and the tile are vulnerable to chipping. Can anyone provide some advice?

I know what I want to do for colors in my condo but I am having a hard time picking out the right shade. I have the samples from the paint store in front of me but there are so many different shades. How do I know what the sample color is going to look like on the wall? I know they change. I live in Italy and they do not sell testers. Thanks
