I am renting, so I have to do something that's removable and not permanent.

First I would get some window tint, they have window tint at Lowes or Home Depot stores, it is also energy efficient and will peel right off but the homeowner will probably not even notice that you put it on the windows. Easy to install to, I did it myself. Then like the others said paint it a darker color, get dark color blinds if still not dark enough,

Try ABC Distributing or LTD Commodities...just this week I was looking for some things for my new house in them and saw some nice floor length curtains that were supposed to block out light/heat/cold. They were either a green or black color (whichever you order) on the side that shows into the room and a white on the outside. They were really pretty and they are supposed to help with heating and cooling the room. Might be something to try. Oh- they were very inexpensive too...like $10 or 12 for the set i think.

What is it exactly that you want to darken??? The decor or the light coming in? If it's just the light and you want to darken it while the baby is sleeping, get black out shades. These are white shades (or other colors are available) and the part that is facing outside is major navy blue. This totally blocks out the light. If this isn't what you're talking about, tell us more and we'll gladly help...

fabric is your best friend lived in apartments my hole life and the fabric room i had was better then the basement... :)
but i just put hooks in the celing to hold both end of a 6-7 inch chain... by sliding the chain link's hole over the hook... do this about ever 3-4 feet... Get either cheap dol rods thicker or thin pc piping. and some sort of end cap get fabric and either toss over the bar or make a large enought holes and weave it threw the rod. don't forget to adjust the chain links to make it even and tight to the rod. curtain rods may work too!!! the fabric cost a little bit but you can find some good deals if you keep looking but it's still going to cost you a little bit! but that's the best way and i did the hole room for me it was black and it looked sweet!
MAd luv

Why bother
To make sure your child can only sleep when it's dark?
Just leave the room the way it is, your baby will adjust.

And later on in life, your child will be able to sleep in rooms that are not completely dark.

If it's lighting, try some nice adjustable shades. If it's the paint you want to change, how about some nice fall colors, like oak or chestnut? Hope this helps!

Sew a thick sheet or other kind of fabric to the outside of the curtains,Or buy black out curtains, they are just the same, they have a liner that makes them no so see-through.

Paint it a dark color, put up dark curtains for the window, and usually close the door.

Turn the lights off. You must be a new mother. They will sleep when they want. Noise effects them more than light. If they have problems sleeping there may be something other than light that bothers them.
