Yep the tartan paint is hard to find but harder still is getting hold of a special tartan brush. This is made up of Yeti hair, preferably
taken from the male it is found in the center of its right hand, they
only grow one hair in this spot in a life time thats why they are hard to get to find
Alternative is egg hair brushes.

Most DIY stores south of the border will rip you off by forcing you to buy separate tins of, say, red, blue, green paint, and then you have to mix it yourself to achieve the desired tartan effect. I'm sure most canny scots would rather buy the paint in Scotland. Alternatively, I'm sure you could purchase the tartan paint on-line from an obliging scottish supplier.

i make my own
get some red, green, blue etc match pots
chuck it on the walls
while your waiting for it to dry pop down to the pub
amazingly when you come in you have tartan effect paint
plus as a bonus your ceiling spins and when you get up in the morning you find your carpets growing diced carrots
hope this helps

Tartan Paint!
Don't know about that - but you used to be able to get 'flecked' (sort of spotted) paint. It was called 'McPhersons'.
