What about at the office - can I hang my bat?

A good way to always tell when to start decorating for a certain season is when your local stores start decorating. Is wal-mart decorated for halloween yet? That is how I would do it, but you do want to put them up early enough that you can enjoy them before taking them down. I always decorate at the first of the month for that months holiday. Like around Oct. 5 I would decorate. Then when you take down halloween, put up thanksgiving, then christmas, etc.

October 1st is an ok time to start putting out the Halloween decorations. For now stick to seasonal stuff instead like autumn leaves and even uncarved pumpkins (or other squash) are alright too. At the office it depends on the general mood and the environment where you work -- at some offices hanging a bat would never be acceptable, while at others it would probably be a laughed at thing year-round. Use your better judgement on that one. Happy Halloween!

Hell no! I Decorate as soon as the first chill hits the air and leave it up till after Halloween. We need a national holiday for this event.
A jack O'lantern always looks groovy in any office environment all the way up to Thanksgiving.

I would at least wait until it's offically October!
I am the same way... I am getting all my decorations out now!!
But my FI won't let me put anything up until October the 1st!!

I did already, but it is more of an autumn theme. I have one of those rubber bats, too, and think you should hang it. I probably won't do the spider webbing stuff until later this week, but have the leaf garland, little pumpkin votives and wreaths all out.

I don't think it's too early. Heck in our mall the Christmas decorations are up and it's way too early for that!
