I have a pair of tennis shoes that I threw up all over. They really need to be washed, but I've never cleaned shoes before. I've heard of throwing them in the washer, but not really sure if there's a special procedure. I'd really appreciate any help, thanks, Nick.

Ok, I just got the cutest fleece pants from Hollister last month but they are a little loose. Is there any way to wash them so that they will be a smaller and tighter? Even just for a day. I can sew and I would sew them but my sewing machine broke :(
I just need ideas for shrinking them a bit, by tonight!
Thanks for any help!

My mother has a special little tub that she puts the leftover bits of soap into. When it's full, she then shuts the lid and leaves it for a few days - hey presto! She has another bar of soap.

Only problem is, she bought it in the 1970s so even if she could remember where she got it, it's unlikely to still be on sale there.

My Auntie also has one that turns the little soap pieces into liquid soap, but she can't remember where she got hers either.

Meanwhile, I am left with lots of little bits of soap that are too small to use.

Can anyone help me to find a soap-saver? (if it's any use, I'm in Coventry, UK)

Does anyone know how to get black scuff marks off white vinyl. I have a pair of boots I need to wear to a Halloween Party this Saturday and they have black scuff marks on them. I don't want to ruin the "wet" look of the vinyl so I'm leary about trying anything too abrasive. Can anyone help please?

I woke up this morning to find a mark on my ankle. I tried to clean it off but it won't budge. I checked my bed for any markers or anything the kids may have left and found nothing. Its three dots straight down and a half circle underneath, brown in color. Sounds strange, but anyone have any thoughts on what it might be???

An old friend of mine used to use a roll on stick for stain removal on the hot iron which was then smoothed over an old cloth to remove the stain.
Does anyone know what it's called and where I can buy it?

I entered the Great South Run last weekend and it was absolutely peeing it down with rain during the whole run. Got back to the car and the trainers were obviously soaking wet, they have dried out now but they smell disgusting.

These trainers are fairly expensive Brooks trainers, specifically for running in. The only way I can think of getting rid of the smell is to put them in the washing machine but I have heard that I shouldnt do that.

Would it be ok to put them through the wash or does anyone else have any other suggestions on how to get them clean again?

Its not the insides that smell, its the fabric on the outside.

Any ideas? thanks.

It never ever worked, right form the moment I bought it brand new, but i was too busy with new baby and stuff totake it back and now its too late. The problem is that I put the powder in the drawer but it's still there when the wash is done, is there any way for me to fix this?
For the past year I hva been using liquid soap and it works perfectly well but its just annoying not knowing whats wrong with the drawer

It's a pretty cheap coffee table its maple finish with crappy wood inside, and as soon as I put a cup on it, horrible dark stains appeared on it, so is there any way to get rid of them?
And I don't need any sarcastic remarks about buying cheap things or 'prevention is better than cure', I realise that but that is not helpful now.
I just need a way to get rid of the stains.
