No it will not be ruined from the dishwasher, I put my Cast skillet in there a few times per month for a thourough cleaning.. You'll just have to reseason it when it comes out.. In case you dont know what that is you'll need to wipe it down with veggie oil a thin coat then place in the over at about 175 or 200 degrees for half an hour it will be good as new again...... Cast will only pit and rust if let to air dry btw.. If you dont want to reseason it that way just place the cast on a low heat on the stove to make sure its dry before you store it...

Yes it does. Alton Brown from Good Eats gave the best way. Put water & kosher salt in it & bring it to a boil for about 3-5 minutes. It will get out anything that is stuck on. After a you pour that out, wipe with a towel & make sure completely dry. Then wipe oil on it again before storage. Works great. I have lots of cast iron & no rust pits.

I've washed enamelled cast iron(Le creuset) in the dishwasher for years with no problem. I've used them for plain cast iron too, but they always needed a little rust removal and re-oiling which was more effort that cleaning by hand.

Yes, the best way to clean your cast iron is to wash it in hot soapy water rinse well, dry and take a paper towel with some vegtable oii and wipe it all good. Then take a new paper towel and
wipe out the excess. I have a cast iron fry pan that I've had for
28 years!

Yes. The oils will wash out and it will rust. Don't soak it in water either. Cast iron, properly seasoned by following the instruction that came with it, or instructions you can find on the Internet, only need a quick rinse/wiping after use and a through drying.

Washed in the dishwasher will totally ruin it. Cast iron is only suppose to be wiped clean and reseasoned after use.

About the only thing that will damage Cast Iron is a hard clout with a heavy hammer or being dropped heavily to the floor.

Dont ever put it in the dishwasher. Wash it by hand, never dry it with a towel, put it on the stove burner and let the heat dry it and then rub a piece of wax paper over the inside of the pan to keep it coated and so when you cook in it, nothing will stick to it.
