Drycleaning is not something that you want to do yourself. It involves many steps. First, at the counter, your clothes are examined for any difficult stains, beading, or special attention the garment may need. It is then ticketed so that your item will match the ticket number on your receipt. It is then sent to a spotter who checks the clothes and uses chemicals to remove certain stains that will not come out by drycleaning alone. Some of these stains are blood, lipstick, glue, ink, etc. Once these stains are removed, the garments are then drycleaned with a solvent that flushes out the previously used chemicals and removes any general soil on the garments, providing the drycleaner is using a good detergent! The clothes are dryed in the same machine. After they come out, they are sent to a presser who tries to restore the garment to a "just new" appearance. If the drycleaner uses a fabric finish in the wheel, this is much easier to accomplish! They are then pressed, checked by the assembly person for any missed stains or double creases, then bagged and put on a rack so that when you come in, the clothes are ready to go!
