Time. If you smoke regularly, you have to quit and it will take a few months for it to all go away. Food smells are about the same. If you work somewhere that you are regularly exposed to it, it won't stop until you stop working there.

I would get your carpet professionally cleaned or at least rent a Carpet Dr. from the grocery store. That's your BEST bet to getting the smell out of your carpet. As far as the walls and everthing else the smell is on, you may or maynot notice that the smell has gone away. Do a DEEP clean with 409 or Mr. Clean on the walls, trim and ceiling (if it's not acoustic/popcorn).

If you have the money and the time, I suggest NEW carpet and repaint ceilings and walls. That will be your BEST bet to eliminate cigarette smells.

Hope this was helpful

this actually works! Put your clothing in a plastic bag with a dryer softener sheet - keep it there for a day - take it out and the smoke smell should be gone. I have used this for a suede jacket that I wore to a casino that REEKED of smoke.

Let the dog lick them out. Scientists have proven that dog saliva has a potent cleaning solution that can eliminate odors such as smoke and food. Dog saliva covers the odors and destroys them on contact without leaving an unpleasant scent.

Think that is awesome? Dog saliva makes the best mouthwash as well, it will literally kill every bad germ in your mouth leaving you feeling clean and fresh.

I used to work in a restaraunt, and my clothes would be "stained" by the smell of the grease from the deep fryers and the grill. I used AMAZE, it is a powder that you add 1/4 of a cup to your laundry soap and wash as usual. The smell is gone, and your clothes smell great. It is a laundry booster.

A mild soap to wash the item(s), then use vinegar in the rinse water. Vinegar is a natural deodorizer and much safer to use than Febreeze.

Febreeze is very very good for this. It was originally developed for use in the rental car industry. You can also try spraying with white vinegar. I keep an old hair spray bottle for this.
