Some people can get them white like they came from the store and I can only do that when things are new. After a while, things are more 'off white'. They still get clean enough, but just not white like white from the store.
What's the secret?

I've tried detergent, stain remover and vanish but dark brown stain still there. Professional carpet cleaners want to do whole carpet (£250) but it's still quite new

We have owned our own house for four years now and my boyfriend has been a heavy smoker the whole time. He has just given up (I'm very proud!) and was wondering if anyone had some good tips for freshening up the house? I leave all the windows open as much as possible and have washed the curtains etc. I have used an odour neutraliser on the carpets but may still shampoo them. I have heard of white vinegar doing wonders but does anyone have any other ideas? Thank you!

My flatmates use them and I think they're filthy things.

Sometimes the sponge sits on the end for weeks - it goes a nasty colour and wears thin but they still use it. Can't be healthy can it?

I'm in a debate with one of my flatmates about it - he thinks the anti-bacterial liquid would eradicate any germs. I think filling up the sink with HOT water is the healthiest and most thourough way to wash dishes.

This is my ONLY housekeeping bugbear. I am not, as a rule, OCD about things like this.

Am I being overly cautious?

I went away on holiday and left some meat in the freezer. During my time away there was a power cut so my freezer stopped working. When i arrived home there was the most disgusting smell... the meat in freezer had been rotting, there were maggots and flies everywhere! Thank goodness the smell in the house has gone.... but the smell in the freezer will not go away!

I dont want to put any food in the frezzer in case it gets contaminated with the smell too. So im living on fresh/tinned food only. Which is annoying. What can I do! I must get rid of this smell!!! help!!!!

the floor of my oven. It is a type that has a hidden electrical element under the oven metal "floor", for lack of a better word. It is where the juice of a pie would drip if you overfilled a pie in the oven. I cna't get it off. I had tried nylon pads, soft scrub cleanser, vinegar, Mr. Clean sponges, glass oven surface cleaner, leaving soaking wet rags, even scraping with a small screw driver. Any ideas to help, any one. I am afraid to try the self cleaning oven for 1, fear of fumes, and 2. if might make it worse. It's not a lot but it is enough that I want it off. Thaks you to all responses

It's dirty and filthy, cuz I grew up there it was never a real problem cuz I was used to it.The walls are stained there are about 2 or 3 layers of dirty carpet, instead of picking it up they just throw a rug or something on there,NO ONE WASHES their hands after using the bathroom, and my great-aunt uses the bathroom with the door open and then just goes in the kitchen and starts cooking. My mom sleeps with food in her mouth and it spills on the floor(she's a drug addict). My old room has bunkbeds and a full size bed and both of the bunk beds are filled with clothes, coats, sheets and towel, toys, books. The house has a stench of the public restroom and a stale, musty closet. The toilet seat and surrounding floor is always wet(no males live there)I don eat of dishes cuz they use handsoap sumtimes to wash dishes. But according to them, everyone else is nasty. I tried organizing a group cleaning, but they think the house is clean and say 'I just think I'm cleaner and better than everybody'!
